Storage drivers in XP image

When capturing an image, it’s always a good idea to add needed storage drivers to the [SysprepMassStorage] section of your Sysprep.inf before capturing.

The two most common Mass Storage Drivers are the :

Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver (IaStore.sys)

and

Dell SAS 5x and SAS 6x Controller Driver (symmpi.sys)

In Sysprep.inf add the following lines…

================insert into sysprep.inf========================

[Sysprep]
BuildMassStorageSection = No

[SysprepMassStorage]
;Dell SAS 5x and SAS 6x Controller Driver
PCIVEN_1000&DEV_0054&SUBSYS_1F041028=C:driversSASsymmpi.INF
PCIVEN_1000&DEV_0054&SUBSYS_1F061028=C:driversSASsymmpi.INF
PCIVEN_1000&DEV_0054&SUBSYS_1F071028=C:driversSASsymmpi.INF
PCIVEN_1000&DEV_0054&SUBSYS_1F081028=C:driversSASsymmpi.INF
PCIVEN_1000&DEV_0054&SUBSYS_1F091028=C:driversSASsymmpi.INF
PCIVEN_1000&DEV_0058&SUBSYS_1F0E1028=C:driversSASsymmpi.INF

PCIVEN_1000&DEV_0058&SUBSYS_021D1028=C:driversSASsymmpi.INF

;Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver

PCIVEN_8086&DEV_3A22&CC_0106=C:driverssataIAAHCI.INF

=======================================================

Now place the Storage driver in the corresponding folders: INTEL in C:driversSATA and DELL SAS in C:driversSAS

Sysprep and capture the image. You should now be able to deploy images to most PC models out there.

If you do an automatic "build and capture" task sequence with SCCM just place the sysprep.inf file in your Sysprep package, and make sure to copy the storage drivers to C:driversSAS and C:DriversSATA (either with a a script, or using $OEM$ in the Windows source)

    Before doing a sysprep I have to copy the SATA drivers to C:\drivers\SATA and add text to the sysprep.inf but where is that sysprep.inf file if I didn’t do a sysprep already? Do I have to do a -bmsd also when I’m sysprepping?
